I'll raise a flag to catch the wind.
the basics
Name || Imogen Mary Hale
Nicknames || none
Age || thirty-five
Occupation || actress
Gender || female
Sexuality || straight
the appearance
Face Claim || Ruth Wilson
Identifying Features || A curiously crooked sort of mouth and eyebrows. Her natural accent is English (generic London/southern England) but she can mimic her mother's native accent as if she came from Co. Cavan, herself, (and definitely gets a bit more Irish when she's tired/excited/tipsy) and also do a solid American accent thanks to her father and her trips to the States from childhood.
Overall || Imogen is a woman whose beauty or lack thereof nobody can seem to agree on. Her features are certainly distinctive, and have led to many of her roles being that of a sort of femme-fatale or witch type of character. Standing at a respectable 5'6", she has a pale complexion, light green eyes, and hair that she currently keeps a dusky shade of auburn-red.
the personality
Likes || shortbread, personal planners, citrus-scented things, cats, proper fireplaces (i.e. not just gas or electric lights and a fake log or fake coal)
Dislikes || hot tubs, reality TV, dishware with cracks or chips in it, organized religion, oysters, driving or sitting in front passenger seat of vehicles
Strengths || clever, passionate, not above getting her hands dirty
Weaknesses || can be over-focused on one issue to the point of neglecting other things, defensive when criticized, impatient when she's interrupted
Dreams || truly breaking ground with her performances
Fears || being just a blip in the family's dramatic dynasty
the history
Imogen is the daughter of renowned New York stage director Gerald Hale (son of equally-renowned stage director James Hale), and Irish actress Dierdre Byrne, who has played just about every notable Shakespearean female role in the RSC's range of productions over the decades, plus appearances at Vics both Young and Old, as well as the National Theatre and other European plays.
It was perhaps inevitable that Imogen would feel drawn to the world of theatre, and she has done pretty well on-stage, but finds it difficult to escape comparisons to her mother, or rumours that her father's influence got her more chances. That this may be true drives her quietly mad, and she has hoped that moving to New York might relieve at least some of the pressure--though of course it hasn't disappeared.
Her parents never married, and Imogen was the product of a brief but heated affair during her father's direction of a production of Cymbeline, in which her mother played the role she was named for. She was raised in Britain by Dierdre, though she saw her father fairly regularly, and would often visit New York during school holidays. She feels the city is a second home, but is much less recognized there than in London.
Breaking into films hasn't been an easy transition, and she's had a few small and supporting roles in independent films and a handful of lines in a summer thriller where she wound up dead, but by taking the role of the head nurse in Code Blue, Imogen hopes to gain more credibility in the States, and, it follows, in the American film industry.
