Career is split 65 of the time as esteemed Professor of Environmental studies and Philosophy at the local University, and 35% Political Pundit on GNN. Father of two adult daughters, divorcee, somewhat private 420 fan, grumpy old man. Sound up your ally? Maybe you could be friends with the fella. Despite his sometimes snide remarks he has a heart of gold and probably will bend over backwards to help you out, especially if you don't deserve it. He is glued to his cellphone and twitter, even if he's a dinosaur he sure tries to act like he isn't and is incredibly sensitive about his age. Furthermore he probably knows how to use your new iphone better than you do, so don't sass the man!
Enemies are most likely young men in their mid twenties and early thirties who are trying to seduce his daughters and are no good for him, oil companies who he trashes a lot, discriminatory people. Honestly even when Mike doesn't like someone he won't make a fuss about it, the only thing he is sensitive about is his family, he'll pretty much let anyone walk over him with a little roll of his eyes and scoff. Also you really don't want to make fun of the fact that he still goes to 70's nights and boogies, because disco is the coolest thing that was ever invented and Mike will go on and on and on about it.
Lovers? Probably not, not because he's not looking, but because he's incredibly bad at dating in this day and age. He was married for over 20 years and now is an old man and has no idea how to play the game. Gay clubs are really awkward and not his scene so he has sadly accepted the fact he probably isn't going to find anyone. Would be fun to do some really, really, really weird dates that Mike inadvertanly messes up because he doesn't know what is going on.

Friends please! River is very 'woe is me' 'art is dying' 'our country is bonkers' etc. Punching up kind of guy but feels like his life is a bunch of punching down. I think these two are the kind of guys who are friends despite their different backgrounds because they respect one another and what they stand for.. Plus loads of honesty. They can also smoke weed together if that helps. River's outspokenness having to do with his current acting job (on a stupid sitcom) gets him into a lot of trouble but he doesn't care. That's how he feels and that's that.

If he has daughters he'll probably get along with Emmy just fine. She's a little girl but pretty smart for her age and more adult than, well, some of the adults she works with. She's suffering abuse at home at the hands of her father and mother but it is going unchecked. If something goes on between her Uncle William and him that's just another reason for these two to get to know each other (she and her Uncle are close).

David Rossi runs the station. He parties, he has a sharp wit, a big mouth... So yeah these two know each other and he'd think Michael was epic.

West would TOTALLY try to hit on his daughters before he finds out who their dad is. I think he and Mike could be an odd couple kind of friends too once the daughter thing is water under the bridge, a kind of "I tolerate you to your face but secretly actually think you're pretty cool" relationship because West could definitely learn a lot from Mike about life and being a grown up in 'the real world'.
