@leo TAGS: @dirk NOTES: Told you I'm a little rusty! xD
The night was slowly drawing in, the streets lit beautifully by the buildings and street lights everywhere you looked. Leo was taking a casual stroll through the city, it had been a while since he had been able to take a leisurely walk with the amount of gigs and rehearsals he had been involved in recently. Tonight however, he was going to get his drunk on.
He adjusted his black leather jacket so that it sat straight on his person whilst looking for a nice quiet venue he could get a table and relax in. He stopped for a moment digging his hands into the pockets of his jacket to fish out his cell phone. He always knew there was one person that would have the perfect place to drink. Swiping the screen and entering the pass code he unlocked the device and went into the messaging section of his phone.
Baglen! How are you buddy?! I need a drinking partner… and somewhere to actually drink! Help!
He sent the text message to his friend before finding a nice quiet spot where he could perch himself and wait for a response. Leo loved being around Baglen, his accent was just to die for and if he was being honest, the guy was hot. Not that he’d ever say so out loud, he knew he never had a shot with him but what’s the harm in a crush?
Looking around the area, Leo placed his eyes upon a small off license, somewhere he could at least get a small can of premixed vodka and coke to drink while he waited for his friend to show his face. He entered the shop, picked up the can and handed it to the cashier, together with the money for the drink. ”Any thing else?” the small man behind the counter asked Leo who in turn shook his head with a slight smile. ”Nah that's fine thank you! Only need the one... I hope!” he responded as he took the can, left the shop and returned back to where he had perched himself before.
”Come on Baglen!” Leo sighed, cracking open the can and beginning to take a sip.

Nothing left to sayWhat's standing in your way? You had the chance to never walk alone
Baglen had been finishing up a shift at the morning news show which required its techs to be working from midnight until six am preparing the lights, hanging par cans, and messing with wiring. It was crazy hours for most but honestly Baglen didn't mind. He lived for this sort of thing. He loved being busy and even more than that he loved messing with wirings and seeing the results of their labor even before the cameras started running. Sure he wasn't his own boss but he hoped that someday, if he continued to pay his dues and work hard, eventually he would have enough saved (and enough knowledge in his mental bank) to start his own technical business.
Baglen didn't usually work for the morning show. His more permanent post was for Friday Night Live (which a lot of techs were jealous of because the show had been on air for over forty years so it was pretty much a permanent gig until you decided to leave or f***ed up bad enough that you were fired which, for techs, was unheard of). Today Baglen was filling in for a few hours for a fellow tech friend who had an errand to run. Baglen didn't mind. Friday Night Live was still in the off season and wasn't starting up for two weeks so he had most of the summer free to rest or grab whatever odd gigs he could. By the time he got Leo's text he was just switching with his friend who had returned. He briefly entertained lying and saying he was still working, he honestly was tired, but he hadn't seen Leo in a while and if he stood his friend up the famous musician would probably plaster his name all over some magazine (of course he wouldn't but still).
Sure. I'm just finishing up at Morning Show. Where were you thinking?
After getting the name of the bar, leaving some belongings in his locker, and grabbing his belongings so he could head home after he grabbed an Uber and eventually arrived at the bar. Didn't seem like Leo's usual hangout. It was more pub/dive-y than anything else. Definitely an 'end of the night' sort of place. Not Leo at all. Baglen then briefly felt guilty. Leo wasn't his job, though he was filled with charisma, he probably was into all sorts of things that no one would have ever guessed. No one could be glitz and glamor twenty four seven. Not even Leo who seemed to thrive on the attention.
Walking in the door he pulled at the edges of his leather coat. Fall was just starting to hit NYC and the weather was crisper and colder. Took some getting used to even though he was from England which wasn't exactly the warmest place on the planet. Swallowing (why had he agreed to come here so late again?) he made his way toward Leo at the bar and helped himself to a spot on the barstool beside him. "Sorry I'm late, mate. Had to finish up things at the studio. Filling in for Craig. He had something to tend to. How are you? It's been a bit." Baglen lifted his hand getting the bartender's attention and ordered a bottle of Blue Moon. He would try to keep it to one or two tonight. Try.

LEO JAY WATSON TAGS: @dirk NOTES: Let the drinking commence xD Leo had made his way into a nearby bar, not as glamorous as ones that he would usually go in to but for the moment, he wasn't out to get plastered. He perched himself on a bar stool and nodded to the barman who made his way over to ask the dark haired singer what he wanted to drink. ”Amaretto and Coke please!” Leo requested before grabbing some money from his wallet and handing it over to the man behind the bar.
Leo sipped his drink slowly, looking around, the place was strangely quiet, people were at tables with their friends but no one seemed to be as loud as you would normally expect in a bar. Leo shrugged it off as his phone lit up with Baglen's name on the screen. ”Well it's about time!” he chuckled to himself as he swiped the screen and entered the pass code. A small smile stretched across his face as he read the message.
Sweet, I'm in this little bar called Jasper's! I'll see you soon!
The reply was sent with the press of a button. Leo enjoyed spending time with Baglen, while a part of it may be purely for the eye candy, his friend was a good drinking partner and was usually always there when Leo needed just that.
A short while later, the bar stool next to Leo was occupied. He looked up to see his friend perched next to him. The dark haired brit apologised for his lateness and explained that he was covering for one of the guys over at the news station. Leo chuckled softly ”Hey at least you're here now! How've you been buddy!?”
He waited for the barman to serve his friend before pulling some more money out of his wallet and ordering another drink/ ”Same again please!”

Nothing left to sayWhat's standing in your way? You had the chance to never walk alone
Baglen could only nod and give a weak little smile as he looked from his friend to the bartender pouring his drink accepting it with a heavy sigh (he had a long day) and took a sip. Swallowing he shrugged his shoulders to the musician's question. "Alright I reckon. Keeping busy during Friday Night's off season. Everyone's off doing their own thing in the meantime." Picking up extra shifts was nothing new especially after a few seasons as a tech on the show he long ago became used to the ebb and flow of things. Truthfully he wouldn't have it any other way. There was something almost romantic about flying by the seat of your pants in such an exciting atmosphere like the one as USBC let alone on one of the most popular and revered shows in the network's entire existence. It kept his parents pleased as punch anyhow.
"What about you?" Leo had the life of a musician probably a hundred times more exciting than anything Baglen had ever experienced working behind the scenes and under the radar. Probably a never-ending parade of excitement and beautiful women. Baglen, much like any other man around his age, envied Leo. If only he could get women (especially a specific one on the cast of Friday Night) to give him the time of day in the form of hugs, kisses, and declarations of love tucked between the sheets followed by acknowledgement the next morning as opposed to pretending that she didn't even know that he existed. He should have forgotten about it, all of it, long ago but he just couldn't bring himself to. The heart wanted what the heart wanted after all.
"Up to anything exciting tonight?" He asked taking another drink and set his glass back down on the bar before running a hand through his somewhat shaggy brown hair - Man, he really needed a haircut something fierce. "I would ask if you were behaving but I think that's a dumb question considering." He gave a light laugh. Asking a musician to behave was like asking the sun to stop shining. What did they owe anyone? They were the one in a billion hanging in the sky. They didn't need to do anything that they didn't want to and had the luxury of acting whatever which way they pleased. Another thing to be envious of.

LEO JAY WATSON TAGS: @dirk NOTES: Leo nodded as his friend began to explain what he had been up to since the last time they had met. That accent, it drove him mad, he was almost sure everyone most feel the same about it. Leo had to admit, it must be tiring working behind the scenes for various different shows – hell it was tiring enough being the star of an event, he admired Baglen's dedication to his job, he worked so hard and clearly enjoyed every moment of it.
Leo didn't really have much to say in answer to the Brit's question, he hadn't really done anything worth noting. ”Well you know me! I'm either singing or sleeping lately, but I really wanted a break and a drink and let's face it. Who better to have by my side doing that?” he finished with a cheeky wink before taking a swig of his drink. ”It's not all glamorous being the front man!” he spoke softly looking to his friend, his lips pursing into a tight grin. ”Even if you are as fabulous as I am!” He mocked, laughing.
A while passed as Leo scanned the bar, it was too strange being in a bar THIS quiet. He ordered another drink as he turned back to his british friend. ”My night's only going to be as exciting as you're going to be!” he chuckled as Baglen spoke again. ”I ALWAYS behave thank you very much!” his chuckle turned into a laugh as he sipped his drink again. ”If anything it's you who leads me astray” he finished with another cheeky wink.
Whilst that may not be strictly true, he liked to have a casual flirt with Baglen, hell if only he wasn't straight and into that girl from the show he works on, life would be awesome! - No Leo! Get over it! he thought to himself, shaking his head.
”Screw it. Shots?”

Nothing left to sayWhat's standing in your way? You had the chance to never walk alone
To Baglen his accent was as normal and mundane as taking a breath. It was just a part of him and had been for as long as he could remember. He knew that some girls were into it, usually the American ones, but only when he chose to spoke for longer than a few sentences. It never crossed his mind that males could be attracted to him because of his drawl or slight cockney just based on how he uttered his vowels or consonants. Unlike some other men who would have felt offended by the mere idea of a man being attracted to them (being straight) Baglen would have probably been embarrassed but not because of the idea of homosexuality.. Just because he would have been that way if a girl was interested too! He just couldn't fathom it. Not in the beginning stages anyways. He definitely didn't have any inkling that Leo was interested. That would have been a weird one for him to navigate because he considered Leo a friend and Leo, for some strange reason Baglen didn't comprehend, thought of him as one.
"I don't know. Yer bandmates maybe. Or somebody equally as matched." It was nice of Leo to say though. "I'm just a lowly tech. Don't want the tabloids to get wind of you spending time with the common man. Might affect your rap wouldn't it?" He was joking in his own little way of course. To pretend that Bags was as exciting as some celebrity or debutant that could be warming this bar stool for him. Heck they probably wouldn't even be here at this pub. Leo and some girl would be on some roof top bar having drinks that Baglen couldn't afford with a week's worth of salary. Fabulous?
His face scrunched up in judgement declaring "Yeah right" before downing the rest of his drink. Yeah. Perhaps too fast considering he had just arrived mere minutes ago but that was a typical (though rare) night with Leo. You blew your savings and some of your morals just trying to keep up. It made Baglen remember his short stint in Ireland when he was in University. Blowing money meant for books and utilities on booze with his school chums. Well.. Nearly.
"How do I always get blamed for everything? I get 'nough of that at work." He joked right back falling into their little back and forth with ease as he lifted his hand to call the bartender over for another drink. Yup. Just that kind of night. Drinking to have fun. Drinking to fit in. Drinking to forget a girl at work he was so hung up on. All of it. Bury it. SHOTS? That exclamation broke him out of another inward downward spiral. Like there was ever any question when the two of them were in company. "Yeah." He agreed nodding. He knew how this would end. He'd try to pay (like he could remotely afford it.. he couldn't) then Leo would cover the whole tab. That's usually how it went and if it didn't... Well, he'd be up sh**'s creek without a paddle.

Leo chuckled as Baglen stated that his band mates would be more fun to go out drinking with, before degrading himself as just a lowly tech. Leo shook his head rather abruptly and stopped his friend. ”No. You are not just a lowly tech mister! You’re a friend of mine and I spend all of my time with the guys, I prefer drinking with my friends!" he stated, picking up his drink and swishing the contents of the glass around. While Bags wasn’t of the celebrity status, it didn’t bother Leo. He wasn’t the type of guy to shun others because they weren’t of the same status as he was.
Baglen scrunched his face up and mocked Leo’s claim to fabulousness before finishing his drink. ”Easy tiger. We’ve got the whole night to go yet!” he chuckled as he necked the rest of his drink. It was nice just to get away from the “celebrity life” for a few hours and hang around with friends like any normal person would. Granted, most of the time that never happened as people would always recognise him. This bar however, definitely didn’t seem like the type of place he would be recognised, most of the inhabitants definitely didn’t look like the type to be listening to his music.
”I’m afraid you always get the blame because…. well somebody has to take it, I couldn’t possibly let it be me now could I?” He smirked as he patted his friends shoulder.
Of course, the idea of shots ALWAYS went down well with Baglen, they’d always say that they would only have one or two. One or two turned into four or five, which turns into shots, and eventually a pair of drunken idiots. But when you’re enjoying yourself, who cares right?
Leo ordered two shots of sourz from the barman who swiftly poured them equally into two shot glasses. ”I guess I’ll go easy on you to start eh Bags?” he winked as he raised the shot glass to his friend. ”To a good night!”

Nothing left to sayWhat's standing in your way? You had the chance to never walk alone
"Hate to break it to ya, but yer friends with a lowly tech but he's a lowly tech that appreciates it." He joked back at Leo though he did appreciate the compliment. Baglen liked to see himself as a nice guy. A good person. He wasn't friends with Leo because he was famous but he would be lying if he didn't say sometimes his chest filled with pride when they hung out because Leo could have hung out with anybody but chose him. Like he was special or something. Baglen knew better. He wasn't special. If he was the actress at work that he was so hung up on would actually love him and want to be his girlfriend. No. He was just some scab.
"The whole night? You said to grab a drink. 'ere I already finished my first one. Now we're onto another one and another. It's not fair. I have to be up early tomorrow. You don't." Wasn't that always the way with the two of them? Leo had that power over him sometimes... All of the time. "You have me for another one. Maybe two but after that I have to be heading home." But for what though? It wasn't like anything was waiting for him there... As badly as he wanted there to be. A certain someone. Someone that Leo would make fun of him mercilessly, just like everyone else, if he dared to utter the name. "To a good night!" The cheers interupted his thoughts as he clinked the small glass on the wooden bar top before downing the contents with ease. Gross. He winced and slid the tiny glass away. How the heck did Leo tolerate this sweet stuff? His British constitution couldn't take it.
"I'm surprised folks are letting us drink this time. Usually you'd be hounded by teen girls who managed to not get carded on the way in 'ere." Lifting his beer bottle that the bartender had placed in front of him he swirled the liquid contents around in the brown glass before taking a swig from the stem. Geeze was that good and very much needed. Nothing like a good beer after work with a friend that was for sure. "It's a nice change." He noted speaking freely. "Neither one of us needs to go to jail. Not when I have an early shift." Wait.. Baglen had no idea Leo was gay let alone bisexual.. Instead he thought he was like every male musician. Conquering women one by one checking each one off his list.. Like he even kept lists. Baglen didn't (not for anything besides lighting equipment anyways) but he remembered boys in university who had.

Leo laughed at Baglen's joke, but he got the sense that it wasn't all a joke. ”Well, I'm going to give you a promotion to High Class Tech!” he declared to his friend bowing down to him playfully. He raised himself back up and necked the rest of his drink before turning back to the brit. ”What's on your mind buddy?” he quizzed calmly, noticing that his friend clearly had something bothering him.
”Yes my dear Baglen. All night! And early morning, hell I'll get you out of it some how!” he smirked to his friend as he ran his hand through his dark hair and pushed it back into place. ”You can't leave me drinking all on my lonesome!” He moaned to the gorgeous brit, who was planning on leaving after a few drinks. Of course he couldn't let that happen! He had a night off and he sure as hell wasn't going to spend it alone!
In all honesty, the singer was just as surprised as his friend at how nice and relaxed the evening had been so far. Leo always had someone harassing him for a photo or an autograph, it was kind of nice to be left alone for a change. ”You're right, but hey! Look at these people, they definitely don't look like the type of people that would listen to me!” he laughed as he turned to the barman and requested another drink.
He scanned the drinks behind the bar, looking for another shot for the pair to drink together, seeing as the brit clearly didn't like the first one. He sighed before looking back to his friend. ”Right. Well apparently the baby shots aren't to your liking so why don't you take the next pick!” he hinted to his friend nodding his head to the collection of drinks. ”Hit me with your best shot!”

"Well thanks. I appreciate it." Baglen chuckled. He couldn't stop himself when he was around Leo. The musician was always a good time and sometimes it was tough to remember your problems when you even spent a few seconds with the guy. Or at least Baglen thought that until Leo turned the tables on him asking about what was bugging him. There was no point denying it. Leo would see that he was lying a mile away. "It's nothing. Just the season is starting back up so I'll be seeing her again.." Ah yes the dreaded she. The actress on FNL's usual cast who Baglen was head over heels crushing on. Who spoke to him and even flirted with him behind closed doors when she thought no one was watching but denied his existence in front of people even though they worked together. The woman who could make him feel so small just by asking what his name was for the thousandth time in front of her friends slowly chipping away at his heart little by little. Some days it was even tough getting out of bed... And they weren't even boyfriend and girlfriend! He sure would have liked to be though.
"I don't know what to do." He confessed before yet another sip of his drink desperately needing it now more than ever since they were re-hashing this whole thing again. He'd probably do the same thing that he always did: Just try and get by. Little by little day by day. "Do I just ignore her?" They've had this conversation before. The answers and questions were always the same. Transferring was out of the question. He liked his job. He did well there. "Two shots of whiskey please." He told the bartender who began to rack them up and pour while Baglen looked back at his pal. "What about you? Anything exciting in your personal life that I can't read in a paper?"

Bags began to chuckle at Leo promoting his friend which made the young man smile. The brit had been so lost in thought since he arrived that Leo was beginning to think a smile would be near on impossible, but then, who could resist his humour?
Leo could tell that Baglen was trying to think up some lame excuse as to what he was thinking about, but they both knew it was pointless and the brit soon began to talk. Leo sighed as the man in front of him began to speak of the girl from the show he works on, the girl that continuously messed with his friends head, not a person that Leo was a fan of to put it politely. Leo had to keep his cool about the situation, he couldn't let his feelings show now, that would just be awkward.
Baglen asked the same questions as every single time before but Leo wasn't annoyed. Hell crushing on someone that bad was a pain. ”Dude, you gotta do what is right for you!” He began before swigging his drink again. ”Personally, she doesn't sound like she's good for you and she's totally messing with you. But you can't help who you fall for. I know that one!” He finished, flashing a small smile to his friend.
Bags ordered two shots of whiskey for the pair. Leo rolled his eyes – whiskey. Baglen went from having a few drinks to wanting to hit the booze hard by the looks of things, Leo knew it was time to get prepared for the onslaught of shots. The bartender handed the shots to the two young men sitting at the bar just as Baglen questioned him about his personal life.
”What personal life would you be referring to?” he replied chuckling, ”I'm either on stage or sleeping.” he finished with a wink. Was his friend going to dig further? Leo had to think up some stories quick if that was going to be the case.

"I don't know. I know you're probably right but man... She's been messing with my head. Especially lately." Could it have something to do with her ex boyfriend River being hired by the studio to work on the sitcom downstairs? Maybe. He didn't want to think that about her. He only wanted to think the best. "One moment she's chatting me up at the party, holding my hand, kissing my neck and the next she's pretending like she's never seen me before. I don't get it." He rubbed the back of his neck with a heavy, frustrated sigh as he took another drink. Leo had probably heard Baglen complain about these things a thousand times before. Word for word at times but one couldn't help it when your heart was at stake and Baglen's heart was currently and constantly being messed with by this woman. This woman who, despite all she did to him, was a goddess amongst humans.
"I don't know... Like are you going to tour soon? All the girls at work were asking me and I didn't know what to tell them." He shrugged taking another sip before glancing around the pub. Still pretty empty. Strange then again it was late at night. "I have a tough time believing that your life is really as boring as you say." He chuckled. For a famous musician Leo could be humble. It was a nice thing to see especially after dealing with some pretty stuck up personalities during the day at work.
